Medicare Insurance
Because of limited resources and the need for more extensive care than younger members of society, senior citizens often face special problems when paying health care bills. To provide affordable health care for elderly Americans, the federal government enacted Medicare Insurance in 1965, which established a health insurance program for aged persons. Since its creation, Medicare Insurance has undergone numerous changes affecting its financing, its method of operation, its benefits and its methods of cost control. Despite these changes, the basic mission of Medicare Insurance remains the same: to provide a system for the delivery and payment of medical and hospital care for people age 65 and over (and for people with certain disabilities).
Today, Medicare covers around 95 percent of our nation's elderly population, as well as many people who are on Social Security because of disability. While Medicare is facing many challenges, the most pressing are the financial pressure's resulting from changing demographics. Today, and in the future, the number of people becoming eligible for Medicare will increase rapidly and the number of workers paying taxes to support Medicare Insurance will decrease. In 1997, Congress passed a law to reduce the financial strain on Medicare funds and provide Medicare beneficiaries with a variety of new health plan options. The original Medicare Plan and Medicare supplement insurance, which is purchased from private insurance companies.
Medicare Supplements/Medigap
As the U.S. population ages, individuals inevitable encounter more medical problems that require addition and costly health care services. As health care costs have increased at a dizzying rate, there has been an ever-growing concern over how to pay for these costs. Because the coverage and benefits provided by Medicare are by no means comprehensive, Medicare supplements have stepped in to fill these gaps in coverage. Medicare Supplements pick up coverage where Medicare leaves off.
Our main focus is to assist the senior market in finding long-term stability to supplement their current Medicare coverage. Through our commitment to research, we have found the senior market is in need of total and complete health care services. These services include assistance with the ever increasing costs of prescription drugs, dental, eye care and vision discounts which are not included in basic Medicare coverage, and most importantly the ability to obtain these services while working with fixed incomes. Medicare supplements are standardized by the government so there are two major criteria: Company stability and monthly premium.
Open Enrollment
Individuals age 65 and over first enrolling for Medicare Part B benefits will be offered guaranteed acceptance with no waiting period, regardless of health, provided they act within six months beginning with the first month in which the individual is enrolled for Medicare Part B benefits. Therefore, these applicants are not required to answer the health eligibility questions on Med-Supp applications.
